Traditional WiFi Systems

A traditional WiFi system is a network design that relies solely on wireless technology to connect devices to the network. In a traditional WiFi system, devices such as laptops, smartphones, and tablets connect to the network through wireless access points (APs), which transmit and receive data over the air using radio waves.

Typically the WiFi signal is provided by the cable company router or through a wireless router purchased by the owner.

Traditional WiFi systems are common in homes and small businesses, and they can be easy to set up and use. However, they may not offer the same level of performance, coverage, and security as structured WiFi systems, which use a combination of wired and wireless technologies to create a high-performance network.

Some of the key characteristics of traditional WiFi systems include:

  • Limited coverage: Traditional WiFi systems may have dead spots or areas with poor coverage, especially in larger or complex environments.
  • Limited scalability: Traditional WiFi systems may require significant reconfiguration to add more devices or access points as the network grows.
  • Limited security: Traditional WiFi systems may not offer the same level of security as structured WiFi systems, which typically come with advanced features such as encryption and firewall protection.
  • Limited reliability: Traditional WiFi systems may be prone to interference and other issues that can impact performance, such as congestion and signal strength fluctuations.
  • Limited management: Traditional WiFi systems may require manual configuration and may not offer the same level of visibility and control as structured WiFi systems, which come with a central management platform.

A structured WiFi System

Structured WiFi is a type of network design that uses a combination of wired and wireless networking technologies to provide a seamless, high-performance network for homes and businesses. Here are some benefits of structured WiFi:

  • Improved coverage: Structured WiFi systems use a combination of wired and wireless access points to provide coverage throughout a building or campus, ensuring that every corner is connected.
  • Scalability: Structured WiFi systems are easy to expand as your business grows, allowing you to add more access points and devices as needed without requiring major reconfiguration.
  • Enhanced security: Structured WiFi systems typically come with advanced security features such as encryption, firewall protection, and user authentication to keep your network and data safe.
  • Reliability: Structured WiFi systems are designed to provide a stable, high-performance network connection, even in environments with high traffic and interference.
  • Simplified management: Structured WiFi systems come with a central management platform that allows you to easily configure, monitor, and troubleshoot your network from a single location.
  • Cost savings: Structured WiFi systems can be more cost-effective in the long run compared to traditional WiFi networks, as they require less maintenance and can be easily scaled up as needed.

Traditional wifi vs Structure wifi Systems

In today’s technological world where even normal households can have dozens of smart devices all competing for wireless signal, connectivity, and bandwidth, the old traditional WiFi systems that are provided by the cable company or through consumer products from big box technology stores simply can’t keep up with the demands placed on them.

A properly designed and installed structured WiFi network will ensure that all your devices have the connectivity they need in every corner of your home or office.
